While the opportunity to travel around Europe is currently limited for Ukrainians, it is not impossible. So why not enjoy an international — real or virtual — tour of some European cities, where you can be served a cup or two of excellent specialty coffee?
In this review, we briefly tell you about coffee shops in various locations, where you, having closed your eyes in delight of the aroma and exquisite taste, can make the whole world wait.
1. Finland, Helsinki, Kaffa Roastery.
This establishment presides over the “third wave” that announced specialty coffee to the world. And it has
been doing so for several years now, also teaching anyone who wants to delve into the intricacies of coffee
processing, roasting, and brewing at its school.
2. France, Paris, 9th arrondissement, KB CaféShop.
When the sun is shining, it&Nr39-s best to enjoy your coffee on the terrace, otherwise go inside and enjoy a
croissant from their bakery.
3. Netherlands, Amsterdam, Centruum, Bocca Coffee.
Minimalist menu, reduced to Spartan simplicity + traditional cups + unique taste of excellent coffee = recipe for success of this establishment. Each visitor, along with the drink, will receive an information card that tells about
the grain, its taste notes and aroma.
4. Netherlands, Amsterdam, Lot61.
The ground floor of the coffee shop is occupied by a roasting shop, so the aroma of coffee greets visitors from the street, luring them here much better than Lviv coffee shops that copy the same idea. A notable business feature of the place is that each drink is made on the basis of a double shot of espresso by default. So visitors can start their day doubly effectively!
5. Netherlands, Amsterdam, White Label Coffee.
The multi-tiered café has a barista station in the center where the coffee magic happens. The decor features
real Icelandic moss, vines with leaves, lush greenery on the walls and cozy tables.
6. Germany, Berlin, The Barn.
One of the most famous places in Europe, it attracts coffee lovers like a magnet. The menu is filled with
simple names of incredibly delicious freshly brewed drinks.
7. Germany, Berlin, Bonanza Coffee Roasters.
Want to avoid the crowds that usually visit this establishment? Don't come here on a Sunday.
8. Germany, Berlin, Five Elephant.
There is not only a coffee shop here, but also a pastry shop and a bakery, so you definitely won’t leave hungry when you go here. Especially if you buy a slice of their “best cheesecake in the world.”
9. Germany, Berlin, Concierge Coffee.
The establishment is located in a tiny room where the concierge once lived (hence the name). Sitting inside is unlikely to work, so sit with your aromatic coffee on a park bench or take a walk along the embankment.
10. Denmark, Copenhagen, The Coffee Collective.
The establishment is owned by barista competition champions (here’s another answer to the question of
where a barista can develop — in case you’ve asked yourself that question). In the interior design you’ll find
portraits of the farmers from whom the coffee is purchased, as if you were visiting a friend’s apartment.
11. Denmark, Copenhagen, Copenhagen Underground Brewers Coffee Bar Boldhusgade.
An establishment with such a long name on the signboard can flaunt as CUB Boldhusgade for brevity. The interest of this place, in addition to the quality of specialty coffee, is naturally also ensured by the fact that this corner is located in the basement of a building opposite Christiansborg Palace, which has a simply phenomenal view on winter days. And if the day is not winter, but sunny, then you can take a couple of steps towards their second coffee shop and take a bench opposite the beach, enjoying the reflections on the water surface.
12. Norway, Oslo, Tim Wendelboe.
In expensive Norway, try not to skimp on a relatively inexpensive cup of good specialty coffee at Tim
Wendelboe. Tim is the name of a man who has repeatedly participated in and won various barista competitions, who will now brew you an excellent drink and can teach you how to become a great barista in his school. There is also his own roasting shop. Time's overall strategy is to become the best espresso specialist in his country, and to make his espresso bar the most premium and recognizable.
